New Year's Eve Blow Out- Detroit Style in Ann Arbor!

Being long time friends with the likes of Jesse Sinatra really does have its perks!
Also, happening to know the members of Detroit’s finest rock and blues bands does get you into some of the hottest places without having to wear a wrist band.
I must admit, please excuse my ego here- that I am fortunate enough to be among the IN crowd, the entourage, the groupies, the band aid club of Detroit, Michigan…BABY!
My ego won’t let me give up all its secrets, but it does want to be acknowledged; that it has ALLWAYS been a huge supporter and promoter of the best local music scène- and in its own egotistical way, has managed to showcase our finest publicly, on local television by ways of an alter ego some might refer to as Safety Girl. But this is all it will allow me to dish…
New Years Eve 2009 in Ann Arbor will go down in history for me on way to many levels to mention… so here is the short list...
Holiday Inn, north side of Ann arbor, famous for its rocking night club- Guy Hollerins- can now make itself famous for a New Years Eve Blow out- that those partying it up in the nightclub tried to mosey on in to an all exclusive ballroom event!
For those who attended, $250.00 a couple –their package included:
Dinner, Drinks, (all night long) with a cozy Room to stumble back to! Lastly, most importantly for an event such as this, the decor and essential party paraphernalia gave it what it needed to be deemed CLASS. Themed in a classic retro style for the evening- black and white!
Who else could introduce the evening with such style than the one and only Mr. Jesse Sinatra,
opening up- the coolest cats in my eyes, the Bluescasters
and headlining- "Detroit's Legendary Grammy Winning Guitarist" -Jim McCarty and Mystery Train!!!
No way do I have the money or a Bo with money that could get me in to this ritzy event. But my charm does pull some weight...hehe
The staff there were great, Dee, one of the bar keeps was a sweaty pie- even though near the witching hour he seemed to have lost some new year enthusiasm- and he made me wait in line, when I was getting shots for the headliner that night…
I was personally appalled- here Jim McCarty, asking over the mic for shots of José Cuervo for his band, and no one was getting it for them!
Needless to say, me being me… took it upon myself to heed their PA request and went to Dee for support. Sadly, he did not see their request as important as I did, and sent me to the back of the line… lol
Anyway… all I can say is that this New Years Eve was something that kept me up to the wee hours of the morning- Did I break some rules?... hmmmm
All I will admit to is having a much needed, grand time after a very long year in which I was forced to grow in ways I could never dream of.
Starting a brand new year in such a manner as I did last night- has put me on the right tracks and opened some doors for me that until then have been locked, nailed shut, and bordered up with a no vacancy sign tacked to my outerlayer.
I’m sure I am not the only one last night who had some sort of New Year epiphany. It was all around, you could see, hear, sense, and feel its force through the waves of energy that brought the house down!
Whoever the promoter was for this undertaking- I hear he was sick with the flu and could not attend this well thought out package- well I just want him to know it went off without a flaw!
Kudos to you my friend. My appreciation is in the form of this 5*'s blog review and short video recap of what went down behind the ballroom doors last night in my town, Ann Arbor.
Happy 2009 Ann Arbor!
